A friendly welcome awaits you at Kelso Sands Holiday Park which is a tranquil place set on 36 acres and surrounded by pine trees. Come and rest a while and visit the Tamar Valley and its attractions and experience one of Tasmania’s best holiday parks which has a 4 star AAA rating.
At night and sometimes late afternoon you can see wombats in their natural surroundings, also tasmanian devils, cheeky possums, potoroos, wallabies & the eastern spotted quoll. Relax playing a game of golf on our private 6 hole golf course while watching the ships sailing in and out of the mighty Tamar River. Go for a long walk along the deserted river beach where the only footprints in the sand are your own and view a variety of migratory seabirds hunting for food on the sand flats while watching the beautiful sunsets with Low Head lighthouse as a back drop.
If you like a spot of fishing then this is the place for you and if you have a boat then there is a brand new boat ramp at Kelso 2 minutes away. Gathering wild oysters on the banks of the Tamar straight off the park is another rewarding activity at low tide and they're not too bad done on the BBQ with a little dab of garlic butter.
Plan many great days visiting the local tourist attractions in the Tamar Valley,(see links for some of these) or hop on the Shuttle Fish Ferry for a spot of shopping over at George Town and Low Head across the river. While there maybe visit many of the historical sites at Low Head or do one of their river cruises and see some historical areas which the Tamar is renowned for, being the first northern settlement in Tasmania. Historic York Town is also worth a look.
After all that put your feet up and watch the kids playing on the jumping pillow and enjoying a swim in the solar heated swimming pool or riding their bikes and exploring the Enchanted Forest where the wombats live, or play a game of cricket or soccer while the toddlers play in the sand pit or idle their time in the play area. This would be one of the best family parks in Tassie.
“Audibon Society” members come to Kelso and enjoy the great variety of migratory birds including Black Swan, Black Cockatoos, Masked Owls and many other varieties of birds.
After all that you can make your way to the camp kitchen and use the gas Bar-B-Que to cook a good Tassie steak while watching the wildlife and in the summer months enjoy the long balmy evening.
2 night specials available for Tasmania's fantastic Agfest plus for the AFL at Aurora Stadium at Launceston for round 8, 10 & 18. Just a 40 minute drive north of Launceston.
